No, Soundscan only includes over-the-counter sales at participating retailers since March 1991. Record clubs are not counted by Soundscan.

"Mariah Carey" was certified 4x Platinum a month before Soundscan. There's no way of telling how much it actually sold .

What about the sales of "Mariah Carey" prior to the Soundscan era? Shouldn't they be added to the total sales of the album?
