Sony Music Australia reported in 2003, that Mariah had sold (shipped) a total of 3 million albums in the Australian continent.
* "The Emancipation of Mimi" album made it higher on the ARIA year-end list than some albums that were certified 2x Platinum (140k).
** The ARIA report, reported the chart peak for The Remixes and the amount of weeks Music Box spent at #1.
ARIA certifications are based on the amount of records shipped to stores minus returns, meaning if there are many copies of an album on the shelves at retail and there is no demand for them, they will be shipped back to the record label and will not be counted in the certification.
- Gold = 35,000 shipped to retailers and record clubs
- Platinum = 70,000 shipped to retailers and record clubs
