Interesting Tidbits:
Mariah has a special bond with her Japanese fans and always makes sure to include several Japanese tour stops on her tours. Some of her most memorable moments have been while in Japan. Her Daydream Tour in 1996 treated fans to multiple sold out shows at the Tokyo Dome, performances that even today are considered some of the best of her career. During her stay in Tokyo, Mariah memorably purchased two shitzu puppies named Bing and Bong and brought them on stage with her, jokingly asking if anyone in the audience would volunteer to pet-sit when she went back to the states.
Mariah also filmed her "Boy (I Need You)" music video, directed by Joseph Khan, in Tokyo. Though the filming was originally intended for “The One,” Khan made use of the Tokyo atmosphere to make a Japanese pop-culture themed video. Mariah made headlines during the filming after she attracted a crowd of fans that temporarily shut down the video set due to a lack of permits.
