Interesting Tidbits:
You could call Los Angeles, CA Mariah's second home. Mariah has made it a point to perform in LA on every tour, including her recent Charmbracelet Tour, and her performances are always met with rave reviews.
Gerry Gittelson from the U-Redlands Daily Facts said about her 2003 concert: "Among the best moments was a wonderful version of "Bringin' on the Heartbreak," a cover of British rock band Def Leppard's early hit -- proof positive Carey is certainly more than a balladeer. Mariah Carey is back, big-time. And her adoring, loyal fans, many of whom carried large cardboard signs welcoming her return, couldn't be happier."
When Mariah's NYC penthouse was flooded last year, Mariah rented a home in Bel Air for several months until her apartment was renovated. In the meantime, Mariah did several autograph signings and appeared on LA television while she enjoyed life on the West Coast.

From LA Daily News: Mariah Carey dazzles
Mariah Carey assumed almost supernatural powers in a concert that made local hip-hop history Friday at Staples Center.
The golden-voiced singer delivered a top-notch concert. But she also set the stage for a marriage proposal by one of the city s top morning radio jocks; self-diagnosed an allergic reaction; caused audience members to either weep or canoodle; and named a baby.
The only thing she didn t do was validate parking.
To backtrack, the last time we encountered le Carey was several years ago at the Forum, where the singer was either at the tail end of a major breakdown or embarking on a new one. She essentially just stood there in a catatonic stupor, apparently miming to a backup tape.
That was before the emancipation of Mimi. Friday saw a new Mariah. Putting forth a tightly arranged, perfectly packed two-hour concert, the entertainer was fully involved, stopping to talk to the crowd, throwing in ad libs in song lyrics and generally looking fit and sexy all around. The set list took in the classics: "Dream Lover," "Always Be My Baby," "I ll Be There," Heartbreaker," and recent chart busters "We Belong Together" and "Shake It Off."
Carey at her best, backed up by a fine band and singers.
But what people will remember about the show will be the moment Power 106 morning DJ Big Boy came on stage alone and began talking about his recent surgery and the woman that stood by him and is now pregnant with his baby. Calling out his startled girlfriend, the radio guy got down on his knees and proposed marriage in front of the packed sports arena. Wisely, she said yes.
A bit later, Mariah noticed someone in the place was smoking a cigarette. In a raspy voice, the singer diagnosed that her sudden sore throat was the result of that offending Marlboro. The cancer stick was extinguished.
The wildly diverse crowd was in Carey s corner from the moment opening act Busta Rhymes evoked her name during his bawdy, one-dimensional opening set.
And cheers rang out whenever Carey s own DJ kept the crowd pumped up with shouts of "MC" interspersed with an L.A.-centric selection of samples that hip-hopped from Snoop s "G Thang" to the reggaetron of "Gasolina."
But nobody could ve expected what would happen when a pregnant fan made her way to the front of the stage between songs. The woman, spotted by Carey, said she would give birth in two weeks and wanted Carey to name the child.
She had wanted to name the kid Mariah, but she was having a boy. Would Carey help out?
The wonder that is Mariah thought for a second, giving three suggestions: Roy (for her late dad), Trey (for backup singer Trey Lorenz) and Carey.
The woman looked pleased Carey it would be. All in just another Friday night for Mariah Carey on tour. |

By Newton:
Mariah Carey is amazing. Mariah Carey is a goddess. The show was amazing and I'm not just saying that because I'm a fan and I love her. Mariah is truly one of the most talented singers of our generation and she proved to everyone tonight why she is called The Voice. Mariah sounded fantastic. Her voice was so powerful and just astonishing to listen to. It was like her voice was permenantly set in a high register because she sung everything high. She was raspy during some songs and when she talked but despite this, she sung through it and didn't try to lower any notes. Yeah she cracked during Vision Of Love and Don't Forget About Us but it just made her more real and was even better when she pushed through it. The highlights for me
were My All (OMG, so much power), Vision Of Love, Fly Like A Bird, and Fantasy. The reason I loved Fantasy so much is I was sitting right by the B stage and when she went on it, everyone crowded around it and when she went to our side and took off her sunglasses, something came over me and I just went freakin CRAZY!! To see Mariah, my idol, my reason for singing, my everything so up close was just something I will never forget. Damn no camera rules!! The camera nazis were in full force, even for cell phones!
The setlist was the same as all the other concerts and Da Brat was there for her verse on Heartbreaker. Trey did Never Too Much and then did one of his own songs called My Everything with the male dancers and he said they were filming the video for it. Also after that, Big Boy from Power 106 in LA came out and took a pic and proposed to his girlfriend onstage. That took a long time and I forgot I was at a Mariah Carey show....Another great moment was when a pregnant fan had a sign that said "Mariah, Name My Baby Boy" and Mariah talked to her and said that she should name it Roy (after her dad), Carey, or Trey. That was a nice segue into One Sweet Day, talking about her dad...
>From a critical standpoint and as concert conosseuir if you will, I thought some changes could have been made. I think she should have changed outfits during the My All Dance Remix since she does go backstage for about 2 minutes and 30 seconds and done Breakdown but just stood in front of a microphone. I also would have only used one DJ interlude (they weren't that long, only 4 minutes) and had the dancers dance to a house remix of a song like Say Somethin after Honey. And after I Wish You Knew, I would have had her done a full song like Circles, I Still Believe or something like that or even thrown in Stay The Night somewhere in there (whether it was before VOL or during this section, it should have been in the show). Also, at least one verse of One Sweet Day should have been sung. Other than that, I thought the show was very well put together from the video backdrops, the movements of the screens, the curtains, the set, the lights, everything. One of the best stage productions she's done.
I think at every concert the momentum is broken up when the artist goes backstage to change (the only time I've seen it work is at a Madonna concert where the music NEVER stops and the show is choreographed and moving from start to finish, no room for spontenaity). So yeah, she didn't change that much but the DJ interludes were out of place but if you let yourself go and
just dance and scream during them, they were alot of fun.
Her body was amazing! Yeah she's not as skinny as she was 2 months ago but she still looks great. She's a real woman with a flat stomach, HUGE boobs and really muscular legs and if she wants to show that, I think its sending a great message.
This night just reaffirmed all my beliefs that Mariah is one of the greats. Her voice is all she needs. The best moments were when she was just singing, even when the dancers were on, all eyes were on her because she is just phenomenal. There is no doubt in my mind that she can't sing like she did way back when. When she sung Hero, it sounded like 1993, dead serious. I
thought she was lipsynching on My All but it was just that she sounded SO GOOD!!! She is so connected to her fans and you can tell that she just loves all of us and she's just having fun, being Mariah.

I am here to share my adventure that I had last night at The Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA!!!! I finally got to see Mariah Carey in concert!!! I left at around 5:30 and since my friends and I had no ride, since we are all 15 and 16!! we had to take the metro, but it was still fun!! we got to Staples and there were people selling MC t shirts, so we bought a few!! then we made a huge line to get in but we met a lot of Mariah fans who were all excited as much as we were!!, then we finally got in!!, after that we bought a lot of Mariah merchandise, we bought a tour book, a key chain, a glossy photo, a poster, and a lot of other stuff!!, afterwards, we headed in!! we waited a while before Busta Rhymes appeared on stage!!, but he gave a really good, energetic show!! , a few minutes after Busta left, the lights shut off, and the whole arena burst into cheer!!! it was SOLD OUT!!!!! and from where I was sitting, we saw the beautiful stage very well!!, then all of a sudden, Mariah was on stage!!! She started with "It's Like That", then went into "Heartbreaker"/Remix, in which Da Brat appeared, and we all went crazy!!, then she did "My All", "Fly Like a Bird", "Dreamlover", then she brought out the "MIMI" sign for "Shake It Off", then she did "Vision of Love", which was amazing, and she teased us at the end, because she adlibbed a lot, but it was cool!!, then she did "Ill Be There", after that she sang "Fantasy", "Dont Forget About Us", and "Always Be My Baby", on the special "B" Stage!!, after that, she did "Honey", then she came out with "I Wish You Knew"(snippet), and then she did an EXCELLENT snippet of "Cant Let Go", which I think was the best vocal moment of the night!!, then she did snippets of "Thank God I Found You", and "One Sweet Day", someone requested "Crybaby", but she didnt do it!! , then she did "Hero", but she didnt do "Make It Happen", which I really wanted her to do!!!, then she ended the show with "We Belong Together", and confetti exploded everywhere!!! so, as you can see, me and my friends had one amazing adventure!!! we left the arena with a really good story to tell!!! and these were my adventures on Oct. 6, 2006!!! she gave a great show!!!

Hi guys, my name is Jeramiah Westley [a.k.a. J327] and I attended the Staples Center concert last night. We already know how the concert went, from Reviews, but I will say that some reviews & pix do the show no justice. The brief intermission & trey's short set didn't hurt the momentum of the show at all. If anything, they gave us all a chance to catch our breath. Also, contrary to other reviews I've read, no one got up during Trey's set, everyone remained on the floor, which made me pretty happy. Also, during DFAU, the disco ball came down & they shined the light on it & only it & the whole area lit up from the mirrors on the ball, it was breath-taking really.
Anyhow, after the show, me and a few others made our way to the tour bus section at the back of the venue at arounhd 11:30, and we were able to meet & mingle with some of the tour's crew like singers Trey Lorenz & Sherry Tatum, & dancer Raychel[with her new puppy]. DJ Clue & actress Gabrielle Union were there as well. They were all very nice, and stayed to talk & take pictures with the fans for about 30 minutes. DJ Clue had a nasty attitude though, he refused to let me take a picture with him & gave me the cold shoulder. I was a bit shocked that he of all people would emit such diva behavior, but I still respect his work. Then they all left & myself and about 20 other fans remained at the site in hopes that Mariah would come through and after another hour and a half of waiting, she was finally driven through in the backseat of her black Phantom. She rolled down the window and briefly waved & chatted with the fans for a minute before finally leaving the venue.
