Mariah - One of Yachting's Biggest Fans
//
8:54 AM EST Updated by Lynn
Vacations are all about rest, relaxation, and, of course, indulgence. And when it comes to Hollywood's biggest stars, you can count on them to take it up a notch by spending time in exotic locales, on some of the world's most luxurious yachts.
For whom in the world of entertainment's elite does the siren song of the sea call the loudest? When it comes to charter savvy, two frequent floaters stand out from the pack: Mariah Carey and P. Diddy. Forget Stella and her groove, these two have dropped anchor from SoBe to Saint Tropez.
Anyone who reads the tabloids while on line at the supermarket can tell you that the multi-octave Carey has had her ups and downs, both personally and professionally. Her film, "Glitter", was a dud, and her hectic workload put her in the repair shop for a physical and emotional tune-up. Through it all, the pop diva's prescription for keeping it real has been fresh sea air and the creature comforts of private yachts. Indeed, wherever and whenever possible, this chart-topper has opted out of hotel stays and used yachts as overnight respites during concert tours.
"When her schedule permits, Mariah loves to get away on boats," claims her travel coordinator, G. Kates. "She feels the warm, salty air is good for her vocal health." According to Kates, Mariah especially loves yachts with on-deck Jacuzzis. "Who wouldn't love relaxing in a warm hot tub, gazing at the stars, with nary a paparazzo in sight?" he asks rhetorically.
Ever the explorer, Mariah has enjoyed both weekend getaways and multiweek retreats on yachts in South Florida, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean. This two-time Grammy winner has logged more nautical miles than most ships' captains!
The self-indulgent Carey has even been known to combine the best of two great holidays, by renting both a shoreside villa and a luxury yacht at the same time. As one Hollywood insider reports, "You can host a bash in your villa then slip away with your 'real' friends out the back door and onto your boat."
Mariah has even been known to request yachts that will allow her to bring along her two beloved pet pooches. Ah, la dolce vita! ______________________________________________________________

Mariah Carey To Make Her Theatrical Debut?
//
6:01 PM EST Updated by Lynn
Neil Sean, Sky News UK entertainment reporter was on "Fox & Friends" Friday, November 25th and talked about the latest on Mariah's theatrical appearance on London's West End stage.
Fox News Host: Neil, talk to us about Mariah Carey who may or may not be appearing in a play over there and how is she received in England? Neil: Oh we love Mariah Carey. Honestly, what we like about Mariah Carey, she is like the Judy Garland if you like, of this country because she's been down, she's been up, she's back. Remember, of course, she made "Glitter" the movie with a very respected English actor called Max Beasley, that didn't go down too well for her.
Fox News Host: We're trying to forget that.
Neil: Actually I met Mariah recently and she said that that movie is turning into something of a "cult" viewing. You never know, it can be put back out or rereleased or whatever. But Mariah, we can tell you is basically trying to get her West End theater career off the ground. She was meant to start later this year in of course "The Prince and the Showgirl," the big movie which starred Marilyn Monroe in 1956 with Lawrence Olivier. They couldn't find anybody to play the Lawrence Olivier part and now that her record career has taken off again with the "Mimi" album, she said it could be at least 2008 before we actually see Mariah on stage which would still make her under 40. She's looking good. ______________________________________________________________

No darling, the whole left side of the upper portion of the dress was ripped so had I moved the wrong way or whatever, it would have been a wrap so I was just like, 'Oh why me? Why are you doing this to me? We don't need that.' So anyway Jessica, we love you, we love your ensembles but we can't have that no more. Anyway, so I just wanted to say because I kinda like I then changed clothes backstage infront of a million people with one little drape covering me so I was still kinda like so excited if you saw when they said that I won the award and I was like, 'I won? Okay, whatever.' And I was just trying to tell the story 'cause I just felt so bad that I couldn't even hear myself the first half of what I was singing 'cause those monitors, we need to hear ourselves so we can sing along. Anyway, so I didn't get the chance to show you the love that I feel I typically do. And that made me upset. So just in case you didn't see me doing all the tabloid shows and everything, thank you, thank you, thank you to the fans, to the lambs, to my extended family as I'd like to refer to you. I'd like to let you know that without you it would be 'bleakosity, say what' and seriously I really mean that and I love you so very much. And, I don't know, I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving. We just got back from Detroit. We had little halftime fun out there and then we ate dinner there with some nice friends and family and things of that sort so we hope that your Thanksgiving was awesome as well and just that you know everything is great with you and basically my main platform is to thank you. I thank you for doing so well with BET like that. Looking at that and seeing the nice video at #1? Thank you lambs and everything you're doing at TRL as well and everything. Just I can't thank you enough on this day of giving thanks even though it's the next day already technically. I'm very thankful for every single one of you and I wish you luck and lots of love and the best holidays ever. Thank you for helping to make this year one of the best if not, the best year in my entire life. Alright, love you much. Chat with you soon. Bye, bye!" ______________________________________________________________

'Mimi' to be Released Digitally in Late December
//
3:10 AM EST Updated by Liron
A recent article about the effects of digital downloads over album sales reveals that Island Def Jam's intentions are to stall the digital release of Mariah's new album (including "Don't Forget About Us") until late December in order to concentrate on album sales. Meanwhile, at least one label appears to be more concerned about shoring up CD sales. Island Def Jam released Mariah Carey's "Limited Mimi" album to traditional retailers November 15, but will wait until late December to make it available digitally. The album includes the current top 10 hit "Don't Forget About Us." Sources at the label say they feel 99-cent iTunes singles are cutting into album sales. |

Rumor Alert: Mariah To Wed
//
3:05 PM EST Updated by Lynn
Mariah Carey is riding high with the success of her latest album — and she's going to celebrate her comeback by getting married!
Friends say the sexy songbird will walk down the aisle in June 2006 with the man who helped put her back on top of the pop charts, music executive Mark Sudack.
Said a pal: "Mariah has tried to keep her relationship with Mark under the radar. She guarded the romance fiercely but she's tired of hiding him."
According to an insider, Mark, 29, was a staffer at Mariah's record label when she hired him as her "house photographer" in early 2004. He then leapfrogged up the ranks at Mariah's company to the point where he was listed as co-executive producer on her hit album The Emancipation Of Mimi!
Said the pal: "She considers Mark her lucky charm — and largely responsible for her best-selling CD in years."
Considered her strongest album since the late '90s, Mimi debuted in April at number one with the highest first week sales in the singer's career.
Mariah, 35, was married to music bigwig Tommy Mottola from 1993 to 1998 and was then linked to Yankee great Derek Jeter, Latin singer Luis Miguel and rapper Eminem. But now she only has eyes for Mark.
Said the friend: "Mariah is elated — and she'll soon be making good on the promise of her hit "We Belong Together" when she weds her beau!" ______________________________________________________________

Mariah's AMA Post-Show Interviews
//
8:15 AM EST Updated by Lynn
After opening the show and collecting the night's first award for Best Female R&B Artist at the American Music Awards, Mariah Carey chatted backstage with Extra, The Insider, Entertainment Tonight and Inside Edition about her unforgettable night. EXTRAExtra reported she nearly did a Janet Jackson with her gown. Mariah explained, "They're trying to sew me up on my way to the stage. Three people trying to sew me and they're going, 'one minute, one minute, 30 seconds!' and I'm like, 'Hello, I need to be on, this is live TV!'" Meanwhile, Hilary Duff and her rocker boyfriend Joel Madden revealed who they were there to see: "Mariah Carey," Duff said. "I'm really excited, I think she's awesome." [ Download "Extra" Interview Here ]THE INSIDERPat O'Brien: It's Miss Mariah Carey. Her and I go way back. Mariah: We've been through bumpy roads but you were there from day one. It was her big night winning Favorite Soul/R&B Artist. The soul diva dazzled onstage but behind the scenes, a wardrobe malfunction was just waiting to happen. "I had a dress for my performance that you had to sew me into it because we didn't want an ugly zipper so they're going, 'okay, we're five minutes away' and I'm not even in a dress, I'm in a robe. I came here tonight in a robe. Thank God, somebody brought a robe for me or I would have been here in a towel." she said. [ Download "The Insider" Interview Here ]ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHTMariah Carey has a lot to be thankful for. She was a big winner at last night's American Music Awards. She opened the show with a thigh-bearing gown and told Paula Abdul backstage she was grateful for avoiding a wardrobe malfunction. [ Download "Entertainment Tonight" Interview Here ]INSIDE EDITIONBackstage you could feel the excitement and the flurry of activity. That's where we caught up with super-diva Mariah Carey. We talked about the drama during her opening number. Look closely, Mariah is pulling out her earpiece. "So I'm like, 'Just let it die,' started singing and I'm like, 'wait a minute, I can't hear myself' so I'm ripping one out then I ripped the other one out and then I'm like, 'whatever! I don't care' and I just had to do it." But the big fashion moment of the night was almost a wardrobe malfunction. Mariah who was the first performance of the night was stuck in traffic and almost didn't make it to the show. "I am literally two minutes away and they're like, 'two minutes, two minutes!' and I'm in a robe. I drove here in a robe." Mariah changed into her still unfinished dress at the last second. "I had to be sewn into it because we didn't want to have a zipper. So we get there and they're trying to sew me in as we're walking but the bottom line is I went on stage with a dress that's half open here. So I really tried to play it off." Inside Edition also showed a clip of Mariah's animated video of "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" and said that AOL Music will debut the video on Tuesday.
